Hi Everyone! Today I’m bringing you an updated 2023-24 Japan Goyard Price List as there is new information that differs from my 2022 post. I somehow made it back to Japan this year and finally bought my first Goyard bag! Granted I didn’t really have a choice on what bag I got, but I still finally got one at least. Since my visit last year, I noticed travel to Japan has really been ramping up and so have the tourists. The inventory for these bags are not like they were back in 2022 so if you can get your hands on the one that you want, definitely buy it!

Which Japan Goyard Store Did I Visit?
I visited the Goyard store in Tokyo at the Isetan mall location on December 3, 2023, so the prices are reflective of that date. The currency exchange rate on December 3rd was 1 USD= 146.84 JPY. With that being said, currency fluctuates daily and at the time of this posting, the rate has already dropped to 142.27 JPY. So, I would just keep that in mind while reading this post that prices will differ.
Pro Tip: The Goyard Tokyo Isetan store is located inside a mall. The mall doesn’t open until 10:00 am so there’s no way you can stand in line ahead of time. You still want to get there early though because people will be waiting in line outside the mall. Google Maps tells you to go to Entrance B, but I would suggest you go to Entrance A (the main mall entrance). This is the one I went to because I had a hunch that they were going to open this entrance first. In the end, I’m not sure if it mattered, but I was at least the 2nd person to get in line after the mad rush!
Japan Goyard Inventory in 2023
OMG… How the inventory has changed! Back in 2022, when Japan just opened, the inventory was plentiful with all the colors and now, you’re lucky to even leave the store with anything. The day I visited, I went with a guy friend since he was looking to buy a wallet, but they were all sold out! For myself, I asked about the St. Louis, Artois, and Anjou and all of them were also sold out in every size and color except for the St. Louis PM. I also asked about Goyard Alpine Mini Backpack and they were sold out of those too.
How Busy was the Goyard Store?
Super busy! You should get there as early as possible because a line will definitely queue up ONCE you’re allowed inside the mall. After the mall opened, I pretty much did an Olympic-style speed walk up to the 4th floor and I still was 2nd in line. I was too embarrassed to actually run, but also, I didn’t want to come off as being rude either. Below is a picture right after I got in line.
What Goyard Did I End Up Buying?
If you read the above paragraph, then you know by process of elimination, I bought the St. Louis PM in black & tan! If you’ve read my previous blogs, you would probably have never guessed that I would have picked the St. Louis PM. I really don’t like that it’s kind of flimsy and that there’s no interior pocket. It does come with a pouch, but we’ll see how often I use it. To be honest, I ended up getting the St. Louis PM mostly because I’ve been to Goyard a million times and I wasn’t going to leave this time without one. Second, I thought it would be at the very least, a good work/travel bag since it folds up pretty nicely.

Goyard Regular Colors vs. Special Colors
If you haven’t heard, Goyard has officially gotten rid of their separate pricing between their regular colors and their special colors in 2022. Historically, Goyard had different pricing for their regular colors (black and tan/black) and their special colors (red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, navy, burgundy, white, and gray). The regular colors would usually be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, but now, all the colors are the same price across the board.
Goyard Purse Insert and Accessories
Of course, if you are buying a brand new Goyard, you will want to keep it in as pristine as possible. Below are some quick links to some highly rated purse inserts/accessories to help keep your bags as new as possible. As always, make sure you measure what size you need before you buy!
- Doxo Purse Organizer Insert: ~$16
- ZTUJO Purse Organizer Insert: ~$25

- OMYSTYLE Purse Organizer Insert: ~$20
- LEXSION Felt Purse Bag Organizer Insert: ~$16
Japan Goyard Price List
This Japan Goyard Price List will be concentrating on the three main tote bags: St. Louis, Artois, and Anjou. This is just to give you an idea of what prices are going for in Japan right now. Unfortunately, I do not have prices for any other bags or accessories. Also, please keep in mind that prices below do not include USA’s sales tax nor Japan’s VAT. Japan Goyard does not include their VAT in their initial price that they give you. Make sure you read until the end to figure out how this is calculated.

How Much Did I Really Save by Buying my Goyard in Japan?
Exchange Rate
For this, I’m going to use the exchange rate of 1 USD = 146.84 JPY since that was the rate when I bought my bag on December 3, 2023.
Cost of my St. Louis PM in Japan
The cost was 196,000 JPY for my St. Louis PM before taxes. Explanation regarding the taxes below!
VAT Refund
This is a VERY IMPORTANT thing to note that I did not know about until now. Japan Goyard does not include their 10% VAT tax in their initial prices. So, all the prices below are without tax. They will add on the 10% tax to your item at the very end and then you’ll go upstairs to get that “10%” back. I think this is so weird, because they are kind of acting like the U.S. now where they add tax onto the sticker price. But hey, what are you really going to do at this point? Leave the store? Probably not.
Total Price
My bag costs 196,000 JPY (~$1,334.78) so an additional 10% would be 19,600 JPY (~$133.48). So, in total, I paid 215,600 JPY at the store which came out to exactly $1,468.24 per my bank statement.
How Much VAT Do You Really Get Back?
You would think that you would just get the 10% (19,600 JPY) back when you go to the VAT counter, right? NOPE! The refund company (Global Blue) is going to take a 1.55% service fee of your total goods to process the refund.
Global Blue’s cut would be 3,038 JPY (196,000 x 1.55% = 3,038 JPY or ~$20.69 USD) just to process the VAT refund that Goyard literally just tacked on at the end. How CRAZY is that? So, my total VAT refund now only comes out to 16,562 JPY (~$112.79 USD).
Of course, you don’t get your VAT refund right away either. It takes a couple of days for it to be credited back to your credit card. They told me it would take about a week but I got my refund back on December 5, 2023. So, only two days after I bought my Goyard St. Louis PM. The strange thing is that I should have gotten around $112.79 back, but my credit card only showed $102.59. Where did the other ~$10 go? Well, I’ve contacted Global Blue about this and hopefully I can get a straight answer. If I do, I’ll be sure to post it here!
Update (1/22/24): Global Blue (along with a loyal Luxury Lowdown follower) messaged me back and I now have the final answer on where that extra ~$10 went. Global Blue states that there are two extra fees being processed. First, there is a scheme fee of 1 EUR (157 JPY) applied to all Visa and Mastercard transactions. Second, there’s a currency conversion fee of 3-5% that takes place if the currency purchased is different from your currency refund. In my case, my purchase was in Japanese Yen and my refund is in US Dollars.
This is the calculation below:
- Original refund amount: 16562 JPY
- Scheme fee: 157 JPY
- Currency conversion fee applied: 5% (828.10 JPY)
- Amount to convert: 15576.9 JPY (16562-157-828.10= 15576.9)
- Conversion rate: 0.0065860344484461 (JPY to USD)
- Payment amount: 15576.9 JPY * 0.0065860344484461 = 102.59 USD
So, there you have it! Every cent has been accounted for and there’s no more mystery of what these extra fees are. It looks like, at least for Goyard Japan, that there are 3 transaction fees that happen if you plan on using your credit card and expect to get a refund back onto your credit card.
Total Price after VAT Refund and Service Fees
So, AFTER ALL THAT MATH, what did I spend in total on my Goyard St. Louis PM in Japan?
$1,468.24-$102.59= $1,365.65 USD
Since I live in Los Angeles, I’ll take it a step further and calculate it if I were to buy the same bag at my Beverly Hills store. Beverly Hills’ sales tax is currently 9.5% and the current cost of a Goyard St. Louis is $1,650. So the total amount if I were to purchase it here would be $1,806.75 ($1,650+9.5% sales tax). The true overall amount that I save by buying my Goyard in Japan is…
$1,806.75-$1,365.65= $441.10 Savings!!!
So, Is it Cheaper to Buy Goyard in Japan?
OMG… yes it issssssss! Now that I’ve finally bought my own Goyard and have done all the math, I saved much more than I was expecting compared to if I were to buy it in Los Angeles. I saved a whooping $441.10! Also, if you decide to buy the more expensive bags, you can see by my chart, the more money you will save.
Conclusion
If you are planning on going to Japan anytime soon and the conversion rate is still around the 146 JPY to $1 USD, I would definitely buy my Goyard there instead of the U.S. Also, as a treat for my loyal readers (and if you’ve made it all the down to the bottom of this post), my sales associate at the Beverly Hills location told gave me a little tidbit that prices will be going up Q1 2024 for the U.S. so better get your Goyard NOW!

May – thanks for your post on this! I found your post via google. I was actually searching for prices of Goyard in seoul (I am going there in a week) but found your post very well-written and helpful. I am hopeful I’ll be able to find some sort of men’s wallets when I’m there. Thanks again!
