There’s a major sale going on right now where you can purchase a round trip ZipAir flight to Tokyo for only $427 during the winter season! That’s crazy cheap and the best part is that there are a lot of available dates. The “not so” best part is that this is a low-cost carrier airline so there will be a couple extra charges for things like in-flight meals, baggage, and seat selection. With that being said, there’s a special Amex deal that’s happening right now where you can get $100 off of a $500 ZipAir purchase to help offset those costs!

Amex Platinum ZipAir Offer ($100 off $500)
As of right now, it looks like the deal is only on the personal Amex Platinum card and not the Amex Platinum Business. I had my friend check on her card and she said it wasn’t there. Let me know if anybody else sees otherwise though. As you can see, you need to spend at least $500 to get the $100 credit. Since this is a low-cost carrier after all, you’ll have no problem reaching the $500 threshold with all the added extras that’ll you have to pay for. See below for more details.
Important things to note about the Amex Platinum ZipAir Offer:
- One-time use only
- Deal ends 1/15.2025
- Flight needs to originate in U.S.
Which ZipAir Flight to Tokyo is On Sale?
I did a little bit a research and it looks like the main flight sale is happening from either LAX or SFO. Even though ZipAir flies to SLC, HNL, IAH, and YVR, there aren’t many flight and if there are, they are not on sale.

Round Trip ZipAir Flight to Tokyo (SFO>NRT – $567)
How Much to the Extras Cost on ZipAir?
As mentioned above, ZipAir is a low-cost carrier which means that they will most likely charge you for every single thing. So, I did a little research and pulled up some prices for you to compare. The surprising thing is that not all the fees are the same for the outbound and inbound flights. So, you’ll have to look very carefully on what’s worth it for you to purchase.

Can You Actually Get Close to $500?
If your goal is to save as much money as possible vs. being comfortable, then yes, you can get pretty close to $500. I assume if you’re going to Japan in the winter, you will definitely need at least a carry on suitcase so I’ve calculated that below.
- LAX>NRT
- Flight: $207.30
- Carry On: $38.00
- NRT>LAX
- Flight: $219.07
- Carry On: $33.25
- Total: $497.62
- You have to spend $2.38 more to get the discount but at this point I would choose food and just hope that I get a decent seat. I literally can’t believe they are trying to charge you for a middle seat. At that point, I rather just wait until check-in and save the money. So, even if I do get assigned a middle seat, at least I didn’t pay have to pay for it.
Are There Any Deals on Other Flights to Tokyo?
If ZipAir doesn’t sound to appealing or maybe you don’t have the Amex Platinum personal card so you can’t get the $100 offer, then there might be hope for you yet! It looks like United has a decent amount of flights going to Tokyo from LAX for only $524. The great news is that their Basic Economy fare at least comes with a free carry-on, checked bags, and meals. You still would have to pay for a seat selection though.
