Café de Flore Review

Café de Flore was the third cafe we tried on our week-long Paris trip. Full disclosure, I’ve been here before but wanted to come back again to review it for the blog. Café de Flore is one of the most famous cafés in Paris along with Les Deux Magots which is literally just a block away. Both cafés were popular places for many famous writers and philosophers to come and visit. These two places have made a name for themselves and continue to be some of the most popular cafés in Paris today. For this post though, we are just going to concentrate on Café de Flore.

CAFÉ DE FLORE REVIEW

// Food //

At this point, I’m tired out of croissants and decided to change it up and order bellinis instead. For some reason, I was thinking they would be those mini pancakes with crème fraiche and salmon roe on top. You know, the type that is passed around on trays as appetizers. Apparently, in France, they are about 6 inches in diameter and are more like a thick savory crepe that comes with butter.

// Cost //

For how famous this cafe is, I was expecting it to be more expensive but it wasn’t too bad for the food and experience we got. There was no special combo deal like we got at Café de la Paix and La Coupole so we had to order everything à la carte. The menu below is a screenshot of the current prices that we got from their QR code. If you look at the menu on their website, the prices are slightly cheaper so just be aware that their website is not up-to-date as of this blog post.

// Where to Sit //

There are three different seating areas if you will. There is outdoor patio seating where you are subjected to Mother Nature. Then there’s an enclosed glass sunroom where it feels like you’re outside but you are protected from the weather. Then there is the regular interior seating. To be honest, the regular interior seating didn’t look too appealing. I think most people wanted to sit outside or in the glass sunroom because it probably has the best people-watching (influencers in the wild) opportunities. We sat in the glass sunroom and literally could have stayed all day with the amount of entertainment we were receiving.

// Service //

Service was as to be expected and English was not a problem. They even joked with us a little bit when we came in so it put us in a good mood (versus the experience that I had at Café de la Paix). I think what sets Café de Flore above the rest is that they actually have free wifi here. It was nice to be able to finally scan the QR code menu without having to wait for my 2G international service plan to load it. This also meant that you can potentially come here and work on your laptop if you wanted to.

// French Health Pass //

Yes, they do check for your French Health Pass or temporary QR code, but I was able to just use my CDC vaccination card and passport.

// Would I Come Again //

I obviously came back to Café de Flore since this was my second time visiting. For my next Paris trip though, I would probably pass on this only because there are a million cafés in Paris that need trying. If you haven’t been to this Café de Flore, it truly is a must. I don’t believe you will get a better French café experience than here.
