Chanel International Websites
If you are curious about certain items and their prices, I’ve listed Chanel’s international websites down below which I used to find all of my prices. Chanel does a pretty decent job of listing their prices online, unlike Goyard, so it was pretty easy to get a quick price comparison.

Chanel Data Points
For my Chanel data sample, I decided to concentrate on four popular items:
Notes on How Things Were Calculated
- Sales Tax: Since each city has their own sales tax ranging from 0% to over 10%, I calculated the overall savings below “pre sales tax.” The savings do not take into account the city/state sales tax that you would have to pay otherwise in your specific area. So, essentially what I’m saying is that your savings would most likely be more than what I’m indicating below.
- Customs: I did not take into account U.S. Customs. Anything less than $800 shall be duty free. Any additional amount, up to $1,000, shall be taxed at 3%. If you’re wondering, what about items above $1,800, unfortunately, I don’t know since the Customs and Border Protection’s website does not specify it anywhere. If anyone reading this blog post has a clue, please drop a comment down below!

Conclusion on Where to Buy the Cheapest Chanel
Overall Countries with the Cheapest Chanel
Out of the ten countries, Italy won in terms of where to buy the cheapest Chanel since they have a tiered VAT refund system. So, the more expensive the item, the bigger VAT refund you’ll get. You can use this Italy VAT refund calculator here if you want to find out more. France is coming in a close second and surprisingly Australia in third?! I don’t know too much about the VAT refund process in Australia and the 10% refund I used to calculate was what I read off the internet so not sure how accurate that is. But if I ever find out, I’ll let you know!
- 1st Place: Italy
- 2nd Place: France
- 3rd Place: Australia
Overall Country with the Least Amount of Savings
WOW WOW WOW! This year is super interesting in terms of countries where you get the least savings. Last year, the clear winner was the U.K. is terms of the saving the most most when buying a Chanel. That was mainly due to the fact that the U.K. got rid of their VAT refund benefit a couple years ago.
Well, now that I’ve collected the sample data from this year, it looks like it’s a close tie between Great Britain, Thailand, and Japan. Between the three, they all rank on the more expensive side, but Japan was seriously the shocker. The Japanese Yen has been so weak the last couple year that I’m surprised Japan is now ranking as an expensive place to buy Chanel. Maybe Chanel finally figured out to adjust their prices to offset the weak Yen which sucks for people going to Japan to specifically buy.
Please keep in mind AGAIN that these rankings are based off of saving off of the pre-sales tax price. So, even though my chart says “more expensive than the U.S.,” once you’ve calculated you’re own city/states sales tax, these countries might end up being cheaper than than buying it at home.
- 1st Place: Great Britain/U.K.
- 2nd Place: Thailand
- 3rd Place: Japan
