What is the Flying Blue Mileage Program?
Flying Blue is a loyalty program mainly between Air France and KLM airlines. It’s one of my favorite award redemptions because a lot of credit cards transfers over to Flying Blue and they seem to have a lot of award availability too. My friend and I just booked an one-way flight from Morocco back to LAX for 50,000 miles (this was before the promotion) on business class with a added 5-night stopover in Paris! Both legs are in business class and I get to fly with my friend which is unheard of for business class seats.

How to Get the 25% Chase Transfer Bonus?
You need to log on to Chase Ultimate Rewards (not your banking account… I do this by mistake every time). Go to the top menu and click the 3 dots and a drop down menu will appear. Click “Travel” and then click “Transfer points to partners.”
The Flying Blue promotion should be right at the top. You can only transfer in 1,000 point increments. To get 50,000 Flying Blue miles, you need to transfer 40,000 Chase Ultimate Reward points. Please keep in mind, once you transfer to Flying Blue, you cannot transfer back to Chase Ultimate Rewards. So, it is best that you find the flight that you want first and then transfer over the points. Usually, the transfer happens immediately.
When Does the Flying Blue 25% Transfer Bonus Promotion Ends?
It ends on April 30th so you still have a little bit of time. The real time crunch is finding a flight that you want since award availability changes daily and frequently. I check the calendars daily and awards pop up here and there all the time. Even for some summer dates!
Best Flight Deals to Book a Business Class Ticket to Europe
These are just some example flights I found so you can get an idea. Most of the 50,000 miles redemptions are for the end of the year into next year. This mean it’s a great time to start planning your holidays and any winter vacations that you might want to take!

How to Research Business Class Tickets to Europe by Yourself
The best way to find flights is to go to either Air France or KLM‘s website and click the “Book with Miles” tab and login to your account. If you don’t already have an account, sign up for the Flying Blue program is free. Just FYI, I prefer using KLM’s website better because Air France’s seems to be a little buggy especially searching for awards coming back into the U.S. Once you’re ready to search, don’t select a date if you want to look in calendar view. Make sure you select “Business Class” as well as it defaults to Economy.
Bonus Hack!
I mentioned briefly at the beginning of the blog post that my friend and I booked an one-way ticket from Morocco to Los Angeles with a 5-night stopover in Paris for only 50,000 miles. The hack here is that Flying Blue allows you to have a stopover in either Paris or Amsterdam (depending on flight routes) for as long as a year! On top of the that, both legs of the flight are in business class. So no split classes!
The downside to this is that you have to call their customer service line (+1-800-375-8723) and kind of work with them on finding some dates. The trick is to research the longer leg of the two flights and find the 50,000 miles redemption on that leg first.
So, for my Morocco trip, I searched for Paris>Los Angeles and found a 50,000 miles award flight in May. Once I found it, I called the customer service line and told them I wanted to book a business class flight from Marrakech to LAX with a stopover in Paris. I gave them my Paris>Los Angeles flight date that I found and told them I wanted to stopover in Paris for a few nights for the lowest miles redemption. They did a little research on their end and found me a flight! Working with them was actually pretty easy and in my experience, they are very knowledgable about what they are doing.
Conclusion
Redeeming 40,000 miles for a business class ticket to Europe is insane! I’m kind of sad that I didn’t wait until this 25% transfer promotion to book my Morocco trip. I transferred over 50,000 Chase Ultimate Reward points when I could have transferred only 40,000. To be honest though, I don’t think it would have matter. The flight I bought has already gone up and now costs 204,000 miles! So, the whole point of this story is that the 25% transfer bonus is a great promotion and if you find a flight right now, you should book right away!
