Shopping at Christian Dior in Paris is probably on everyone’s wish list and as it should be. We didn’t get the chance to go to the Paris flagship store but ended up visiting a couple of their locations located inside different shopping centers like Le Bon Marché and Printemps. Let me tell you, I was drooling at all the pretty handbags and jewelry. Everywhere I turned, there was something I wanted to buy!

 

Is Christian Dior in Paris Cheaper?

To get straight to the point, yes, Dior in Paris is much cheaper than what you would see in the mainland U.S. So if you are planning a trip to Paris soon, I would wait to buy your Dior bag or whatever Dior item you want over there. Also, please remember that all the prices in Paris will be quoted in euros. Therefore, make sure you know your currency conversion before you go to the store. The savings can fluctuate depending on your own country’s currency. Since I’m from the U.S., I will be making all of my comparisons down below to the U.S. dollar at an average rate of $1.16 to 1 euro.

 

Does the Christian Dior in Paris have a Good Selection?

I would say that the Dior in Paris has a very good selection. We saw everything from their book totes to their Lady Dior bags in every shape and size. We didn’t have any problems finding what we wanted but then again, I was just looking for a choker for a good friend.

A good tip for any shopper in Paris is to start your shopping journey early! A lot of people wait until the end of their trip to do their shopping and then miss out on the bag or item they were looking for. Inventory changes every day and you almost have no time to really sleep on an item because it can be sold the same day (which I’ve experienced). The best thing you can do for yourself is to go to the stores early on your trip and see if they have your item. If they don’t, get the sales associate’s card and follow up with them every day to see if they have your item in stock. That way you aren’t running around the city wasting your time trying to find your bag.

 

Christian Dior Paris VAT (Tax) Refund

If you already don’t know, tourists visiting Paris do not have to pay taxes that are attached to their luxury goods. The taxes are already calculated into the price tag so to get our taxes back, the store will give you paperwork that you will have to scan at the airport when you leave the country. I’ll go into the details of this process in another post, but for now, just wanted to make sure everyone was aware.

Most luxury goods have an average tax refund of about 12% if you want to return it to your credit card and about 10.8% if you want it back in cash. Different designers use different tax refund agencies but they all have the same process and same refund amount. Dior in Paris uses Planet Payment. Out of all the designers that we bought on this trip, Dior’s refund seems to take the longest. It’s almost been three weeks and I still haven’t seen my refund.

 

Which is Cheaper for Dior: Hawaii or Paris?

If you’ve read my Dior Hawaii Shopping Guide, then you probably already know that Dior has a special Hawaii discount along with no sales tax. The real question now is whether it’s cheaper to buy Dior in Paris or Hawaii. The answer is Paris! While Dior in Hawaii is cheaper than the Mainland U.S., Paris is definitely overall cheaper than the Mainland U.S. and Hawaii. Hawaii averages about a 10-15% discount while Paris seems to have a 25%-33% discount. Please remember that the savings largely depend on the item and your own state’s tax. So, if you are going to Paris soon, definitely pick up your Dior items there.
