If you haven’t heard, Hyatt and MGM Hotels are teaming up for a double points promotion! I couldn’t be happier since my goal of achieving Globalist status next year will come from mostly staying at MGM properties. Especially, when some of the rooms are going for as little as $20/night on weekdays. Granted, the double points promotion isn’t really going to benefit you if you are spending $20/night, but a typical weekend stay in Vegas can cost hundreds of dollars which means more Hyatt points for you. let’s get into the details!

11 points per dollar (on eligible spend) - Explorist: 5 points + 20% bonus= 6 points/dollar x 2=

Updated 8/12/22: I have since stayed at an MGM property and I wanted to update this section since the above is wrong. You do NOT get double the points on your status. Everyone gets the same 2x the points on eligible stays. So, essentially, your status does not matter on getting double points.
What is Consider Eligible Spend?
The Hyatt and MGM Hotels Double Points Promotion’s T&C defines it as any stay where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award for at least one night of their stay. The spend that is counted towards the points is the nightly room rate only. In my experience, taxes, resort fees, valet, etc. do not count towards your eligible spend.
Hyatt and MGM Status Match
If you want to get more from your stay, I highly suggest you do the Hyatt and MGM status match. You get additional benefits when staying at MGM properties depending on your status. For example, Hyatt Explorists and Globalists can match to MGM Gold which gives you waived resort fees (which started just this year)!
This is by far my favorite perk and is why I’ll keep going to Vegas if I need to do a mattress run. Some rooms on the weekdays are as cheap as $17/night! Look at the calendar below for the Luxor. Keep in mind, that my pricing might be different from yours since it all depends on your status and how much you’ve gambled.
Do Comp Nights Count?
Comp nights do not count toward the double points promotion nor does any free night that you have earned by playing the myVEGAS app games. These comp nights also do not count towards your Hyatt status.
Where Do I Sign Up?
First and foremost, you have to sign up for a free World of Hyatt membership (if you haven’t already) because you’ll have to register your membership number to be a part of the promotion. Once you’ve signed up, you can register your World of Hyatt number here.
How Long is the Hyatt and MGM Hotels Promotion Good For?
The double points promotion is good starting from July 13, 2022-October 15, 2022 so you better start booking those Vegas vacations soon!
