Casino Status Match Run (Part 1): Free Hotel Rooms in Atlantic City
Do you want to get FREE hotel rooms in Atlantic City? Well, you come to the right place! This blog post is also going to kick off a multi-part series that I’m going to do about the famous casino status match run made by the blog, MilesTalk. Apparently, you can get FREE things like nights at the Wynn Las Vegas and MSC Cruises just by status matching around different casinos. My friend recently introduced me to this huge travel hack and I thought I would try it out and take all of you along for the ride!
Based on all of the free stuff that you can get, it sounds totally worth it, but it’s going to be a bit of work. But no worries, I’ll document my whole step-by-step process on how to achieve all these statuses in the cheapest way possible. So, make sure you visit back often to see the latest update! If you would like to read more about it in the meantime or want more past data points, I highly suggest you read MilesTalk. The blog (especially this post) goes into great detail on how he achieves these statuses year after year and it what I’m going to base my run on.
Disclaimer: This is NOT an A.I. generated post. I’m a real person lol!

Getting Free Hotel Rooms in Atlantic City
The bulk of the Casino Status Match Run takes place in Atlantic City (New Jersey). Surprisingly, I have never been there and I assume a lot of you reading this probably haven’t either or don’t live near there. So, the first step of my process is how to earn free hotel rooms in Atlantic City. Just warning, this step will take a couple of weeks to achieve so that’s why we’re starting off with this first. This is not something that will happen overnight, but if you have time and patience, it’s a good way to get free a free hotel room in Atlantic City! Also, it would be beneficial if you have a friend or partner to do this with so you can combine hotel days into one stay.
Step 1: Download the myVEGAS Slots App
The myVEGAS game a slot machine app made by MGM Resorts where you can earn “Loyalty Points” to redeem them for hotel rooms, food/drinks, events, transportation, etc. Most of the awards are based out of Las Vegas, but the game has expanded their rewards to other MGM properties and partners like the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City.
I’ve been playing this game for over a decade and have gotten multiple hotel rooms comped and have never spent a single penny on the game! There are a bunch of other casino games associated with myVEGAS (bingo, blackjack, etc.) that you can sign up for but for the sake of time, I’m just going to concentrate on the original myVEGAS slot game below.
Step 2: Sign Up for an MGM Rewards Account
Signing up for an MGM Rewards account is completely free and is necessary since this is the way you’ll book your free night at Borgata. The sign up link can be found here. Please note that you need to have the same email address that is on your myVEGAS account be the same as the email address that you used to sign up for your MGM Rewards account.
Step 3: Strategy on Playing the myVEGAS Slots App
I’m not going to go into too much detail here, but if you want to go really in depth, here is a previous article I made about playing the game and the best strategies that I found that works for me. The article is old but the information is relatively the same. Essentially, you’ll want to play the Facebook version and mobile app version and have them continuously running. I run the Facebook game on my computer and the mobile app on my phone and I’ll check on it once in a while to make sure it’s still running. Keep in mind that you want to have enough chips first so you can continuously play the games without stopping. Again, all the details are in the previous article I linked above.
Step 4: How Many myVEGAS Loyalty Points Do I Need?
The hotel you are looking for is called Borgata. This is the only hotel on the app that’s in Atlantic City. You’ll probably have to scroll close to the end to find it. Once you click the icon, they’ll be a bunch of awards to redeem but the one you are looking for is the one that says “One Complimentary Night.” The game requires you to earn 75,000 Loyalty Points and you can only redeem one per player per 30 days. Hence, why I mentioned previously, that having a friend to do this with would be beneficial so you can bundle your nights back-to-back and make it a longer trip.
Step 5: How Long Will It Take to Get 75,000 Loyalty Points
This is where having some patience comes in. I would say if you are running the games all day and night (assuming you have enough chips), it’ll take you about 2-4 weeks to get 75,000 points. Again, I can’t stress this enough… This is only if you are playing ALL DAY AND NIGHT. If you are only on the app once a day and playing for 30 minutes, it will probably take you months to get enough points.
How To Redeem Your myVEGAS Reward?
Once you’ve reached 75,000 Loyalty Points, you can now redeem them on the app for a free night at Borgata Atlantic City. My friend and I both play the game and got to redeem a free night each. We combined our two redemptions together so we can stay in Atlantic City for two nights back-to-back. This is nice especially since our first day there will be mostly wasted due to flights and driving.
Once you’ve redeemed your Loyalty Points, you’ll get Purchase Reward Confirmation by email with a redemption link that you’ll have to click. It’ll take you to the MGM Rewards website where you need to sign into your account that you should have already made when you first started playing the myVEGAS game. The calendars will show what days you can redeem them for like the below.
Is It Worth the Work to Get Free Hotel Rooms in Atlantic City or Should I Just Pay Cash?
It depends! I’m trying to achieve this with the least amount of money spent especially since I have to fly across country for this. If you have a high paying job and it’s not worth your time to play myVEGAS, then by all means, just pay for any hotel you want. This step is not required for the casino status match. This is only if you want to save money. Also, the myVEGAS deal is only good Mon-Thurs so if you can’t get there out on the weekday, then this post won’t really matter to you. “Step 1” of my series is specifically for people that want to save money and have the time to take off.
Are There Resort Fees at Borgata Atlantic City?
Unfortunately, there are. Unless you have MGM Gold status or higher, you will have to cough up the resort fee which as of this blog post is $30/night. After taxes and fees, it comes out to $41.63.
How Much Does Parking Cost at Borgata?
When we went, it’s $10 for self-parking and $15 for valet PER VISIT (not per night which is nice). If you have status, then you probably are able to self-park for free based on Borgata’s website. I have MGM Pearl status and was able to get free self-parking when we were there.
If you don’t have any status, you can actually purchase free parking on the myVEGAS game as well. But for 40,000 points, it’s better to saved the Loyalty Points for something else and just pay the $10 parking fee since it’s valid for your whole visit.
Breakdown for Step 1: Free Hotel Rooms in Atlantic City
Task | Cost | Time |
Play myVEGAS Slot App | $0 | 2-4 Weeks* |
*Disclaimer: This is only if you plan on letting the game run in the background night and day. If you play it sparingly, it will take much longer.
Conclusion
Once again, this step is not needed for the actual casino status match portion. This step is only if you want to save a bit of money and have time to stay at Borgata Monday through Thursday. If you cannot make this happen, feel free to skip the Step 2 (coming soon)!
