Ultimate Guide to Shopping at Goyard in Paris

Shopping at Goyard in Paris is a must for anyone who loves luxury goods and wants to save money! Goyard is famously known for not spending any money on advertising or selling its goods online. So, you kind of have to be “in the know” to know about it. Since they don’t sell their merchandise online, it’s really hard to figure out how much everything costs. How is someone supposed to make an informed decision? Well, look no further because I have done the leg work for you. I’ve compiled a list of pictures and prices so you know what to expect once you are there!

My Funny Shopping Experience at Goyard Paris

The first time I went to Goyard in Paris was two years ago and I had no idea what I wanted or was looking for. We stood in line for 1.5 hours only to get into the store and then be overwhelmed with colors and choices. I didn’t do any research ahead of time so I didn’t even know if I was getting a good deal or not. I looked at the St. Louis bag since they said it was the most popular bag but I was unimpressed. I didn’t know of any other bags so, after all that waiting, I left empty-handed.

Fast-forward to my most recent trip, I had researched a ton ahead of time and decided that the Artois bag was definitely for me. It was more structured and had a zipper top. Once I got to the Goyard in Paris, I saw the Artois PM and thought it was a little too small and the Artois GM was a little too big! I was looking for a size like my Louis Vuitton MM Neverfull but it didn’t seem to come in the Artois. That’s when my sales associate brought out the reversible Anjou PM bag.

I literally fell in love with the Anjou PM bag. It was almost the exact size of my Neverfull. I also liked having the Goyard print on the inside and having the outside be that beautiful tan leather. Well, I got all flustered and couldn’t decide. I was also not expecting to spend a couple of hundred dollars extra on the Anjou. In the end, I sadly couldn’t decide and left home with nothing AGAIN. But have no fear, the next time I go to Goyard in Paris, I’m sure I’ll purchase something. The third time is a charm, right?

Goyard Paris Locations

When I went back in October, only two out of the three Goyard Paris locations were open. The third location that sells accessories (across the street from the main location) was closed due to COVID. Not sure if they’ve reopened since then but I just I would give everyone a heads up. My blog post will only concentrate on the main location located on St. Honoré and the Printemps mall location located on Haussmann.

  • Masion Goyard (Main Store): 233 Rue St. Honoré, 75001 Paris, France
  • Masion Goyard (Printemps): 64 Bd Haussmann, 75009 Paris, France

Which Goyard Paris Location Should I Go To?

This is a tricky question because it depends on the item you want. We had to go to both locations because the main location didn’t have a specific color but the Printemps location did. I would say if you’re looking for a bag, your best bet is to go to the main location first. They are well stocked and have more color options on all the popular bags. If you are looking for wallets or small accessories, I think the Printemps location is just fine. The Printemps location also closes later so if you didn’t find what you wanted at the main location, you can rush over to the Printemps location.

How Long is The Wait?

I’ve waited in both lines twice so I know it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

  • Main Location – 45 mins-2 hours depending on the time of day. I feel like everyone is trying to get there in the morning so there’s a big backup during that time of day. I decided to go later in the afternoon around 5:00 pm and was let in under an hour. A key thing to note is that the store hours say they close at 7:00 pm but they do shut down the line at 6:00 pm. A gentleman came out and told the last person in line that she was the last person and to tell anyone else that came that they aren’t accepting any more customers for the day
  • Printemps – This location definitely has a smaller line and is much quicker. The two times I’ve been here, there are usually about 3-4 groups in lines. I’ve never had to wait more than 30 minutes. With that being said, this is a much smaller store so they might not have what you are looking for.

VAT (Tax) Refund Information

The VAT refund will depend on whether you want it back in cash (euros) or back on your credit card. I’ve chosen credit cards every time thinking that I’m obviously going to get more money back so why would I do cash. The problem is that with credit cards, there is a small processing fee that they don’t really tell you about. In the end, not sure how much the processing fees are, but I definitely don’t get the full 12% back.

  • Cash: 10.8%
  • Credit Card: 12% (minus processing fees)

Goyard Colors

Goyard separates its colors into two categories: classic colors and special colors. Classic colors consist of two colors: black/black and black/tan. The rest that you see will be categorized under special colors. Also, special colors are more expensive than classic colors so make sure you keep that in mind while shopping.

  • Goyard Classic Colors
    • Black/Black
    • Black/Tan
  • Goyard Special Colors
    • Blue
    • Burgandy
    • Gray
    • Green
    • Navy
    • Orange
    • Red
    • Yellow
    • White

Goyard Sizes

Goyard sizing is seriously the most confusing thing I’ve ever encountered. Not all the bags have the same sizes and not all sizes have the same dimensions. A St. Louis PM does not have the same dimensions as an Anjou PM. On top of everything, what do PM, MM, and GM even mean? Well, long story short, it is just a general reference for types of sizes.

  • PM: Petit Modèle (Small)
  • MM: Moyen Modèle (Medium)
  • GM: Grande Modèle (Large)

Goyard Personalization

Goyard gives you the option of personalizing your bag. I would only do this if you know for sure you’re never going to resell your bag or item. The cost is 150 euros for up to 6 letters or 3 stripes. The Goyard in Paris takes a couple of weeks for them to do it so unless you are there for a while, I suggest you take it back home back have them do it at your local Goyard (if you’re close to one).

Goyard Paris 2021 Price List (Tote Bags)

For my price research, I concentrated mostly on the three popular tote bags: St. Louis, Artois, and Anjou. Below is a quick-and-easy description of each type of bag…

  • St. Louis: Lightweight, thin, floppy, no zipper, most popular
  • Artois: Structured, reinforced bottom corners, zipper
  • Anjou: Reversible, solid & print design, contrasting seams, no zipper

The prices below are based on my visit back in mid-October 2021. The rate I use for USD is $1.15 to every 1 euro. This is to give you an idea of what the prices are for Goyard in Paris, but can obviously change due to the currency rate.

Is it Cheaper to Buy Goyard in Paris?

Yes, yes, and yes! I can’t actually believe how much you save by buying Goyard in Paris. Even more than my experience at Dior! For example, a classic black/tan Artois MM costs 1,420 euros. If you minus the VAT refund of approximately 12% (170.40 euros), it would only cost around 1,249 euros. Back at home in California, it costs $2,125 dollars along with my city’s sales tax of 9.5% for a total of over $2,300. You can save more than $800 by purchasing it in Paris than in California!

Goyard in Paris: 1,420 euros – 170.40 euros (12% VAT) = 1,249.60 euros (or ~$1,437.04 USD)

Goyard in Beverly Hills: $2,125 + $201.88 (9.5% Sales Tax) = $2,326.88

Savings: ~$889.00

Goyard Purse Insert and Accessories

Of course, if you are buying a brand new Goyard, you will want to keep it in as pristine as possible. Below are some quick links to some highly rated purse inserts/accessories to help keep your bags as new as possible. As always, make sure you measure what size you need before you buy!

Goyard Photos (Real-Life)

Below are pictures that I took at Goyard in Paris during my vacation there. For reference, I’m 5′-2″ and probably weighed at least 110+ pounds after all the croissants I’d been eating all week lol!

Saint Louis PM Bag (Classic): 900 euros

May’s Notes: Floppy and not really structured. Felt thin in my opinion.

May’s Notes: Again, floppy and not really structured. Really huge bag. I feel like I’m carrying an Ikea shopping bag around. You know… the ones that are blue and yellow? Goyard’s website says it’s made for travel whereas the St. Louis is made for everyday use.

// ARTOIS PM BAG //

Me trying on the Artois PM Bag Artois PM Bag (Classic): 1,220 euros

May’s Notes: Feels thicker. Definitely has more structure. I like that the bottom corners are reinforced to give the canvas more protection. I also like that the top opening has a zipper for extra security. I feel like the PM bag is a little too small though.

May’s Notes: Same details as the Artois PM. It’s thicker, has more structure, has reinforced bottoms, and has a zipper top. For some reason, I think the GM is a little too big for me. Maybe because there was padding inside when I took the picture?

May’s Notes: Ahhhhh… the bag I fell in love with! Of course, it had to be the most expensive one. Love the size and that it’s reversible so you can change it up. To be honest, I probably would never reverse it. I would leave it on the leather side out/canvas side in since I would be too scared of getting the leather side dirty. But I guess what’s the point of having a reversible bag then?

Me Trying on the Rouette PM Bag May’s Notes: My friend wanted to see this bag. It was actually a lot smaller than she thought it was going to be. She thought it was the same size as my medium Neverfull.

Plummet Pocket Wallet (Special Colors):

May’s Notes: My best friend (who I was with) was shopping for her brother. He wanted this pocket wallet but the main store didn’t have the gray color he wanted. They had the classic black/tan though. Our SA checked and said that the Printemps location did have the gray color. So, the next day, we had to make the trek to Printemps.

May’s Notes: Gentlemen… if you are looking for a wallet, the St. Thomas is a really nice option. It’s pretty thin and has a money clip down the center.
