If you haven’t seen the Trader Joe’s Facial Sunscreen all over social media with influencers claiming it to be a Supergoop dupe, where have you been?! To be honest, I would have personally missed it myself if it wasn’t for my best friend who sent me a Tik Tok link where they were talking about it. I usually don’t go on Tik Tok, but I’m so glad that I watched it because now I was on a mission to try out this sunscreen for myself and compare it with the original Supergoop version.
Supergoop makes this amazingly clear, lightweight, non-scented sunscreen called Unseen Sunscreen. I’m a big fan of this particular product because it’s the only sunscreen that I can apply over my makeup. It goes on super smooth and disappears right away. It’s great for those outdoor events like BBQs, picnics, sports games, pool parties, etc. where you have a full face on and don’t want to ruin it by smudging thick white oily sunblock all over your face. It’s seriously the perfect sunblock except for the fact that it’s over $30 for a little 50 ml (1.7 oz) tube. Well, this is where Trader Joe’s comes in.

Where Can I Buy the Trader Joe’s Supergoop Dupe?
If you haven’t heard of Trader Joe’s, it’s a beloved neighborhood grocery market that is based out of California but has hundreds of stores nationwide. Their locations are usually based out of bigger cities, but if you are unsure if there’s one close to you, you can double-check here to see where the nearest Trader Joe’s is to you.
To buy the sunscreen, you will have to go to a physical Trader Joe’s store. Trader Joe’s does not have an online shop so you cannot purchase any of their products online. The facial sunscreen will be located in the skincare section where all of the soaps, lotions, etc. are. At my store, it was located on the second from the top shelf next to the aerosol sunscreen. The hard part about getting the facial sunscreen is seeing if your local Trader Joe’s will have it in stock or not.
When the viral Tik Tok video first came out back in July, I couldn’t find the sunscreen anywhere! I checked four different Trader Joe’s and they were all out of stock. They told me there were going to get some more sometime in August. So, August 1st rolls around and I thought I would just give Trader Joe’s a call to see if they had it in stock yet. The gentlemen that answered the phone said that they just got a delivery that day. So, I rushed down to the store and finally got my hands on one!
Tip for Checking Stock at Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s might be known for their amazing food selections and reasonable prices, but why I love going to Trader Joe’s is because of the customer service. There’s no other store out there that has the friendliest and most helpful employees I have ever come across. So, if you are trying to check the stock of the facial sunscreen, all you have to do is give them a call and they will check over the phone for you. Yes, there is an ACTUAL person that will pick up the phone. Not only that, they will personally walk to the aisle and verify with their own eyes that they have something in stock. This is what true customer service is!
Trader Joe’s Facial Sunscreen vs. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen?
Prices
The biggest difference I see is the price point. For a 50 ml (1.7 oz) bottle, the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is coming in at around $34-$36, while the Trader Joe’s version is only $8.99. That’s only a quarter of the price of the Supergoop making it way more budget-friendly.

Ingredients
I’m not experienced in knowing the differences between these ingredients, but I thought I would list them out regardless for everyone to see. As you can see, both sunscreens use the same main active ingredients. The only difference is the percentage of certain ingredients.

Look
Both sunscreens have that liquid/gel type of look. After doing a side-by-side comparison, I can see that the Trader Joe’s version is more of a milky white color while the Supergoop is more of a nude/beige color.

Consistency
Both had the same lightweight and non-greasy consistency that I love. I tested each of them out on my hands and arms it felt exactly the same. I would say that the Supergoop disappeared just a bit faster, but maybe it had something to do with the coloring. Also, I felt like the Trader Joe’s Facial Sunscreen was just slightly a little bit thicker, but just SLIGHTLY. Overall, I don’t really see any big difference in regards to consistency. I’m just trying to nitpick at this point.

Overall Conclusion
The Trader Joe’s Facial Sunscreen is an incredible dupe for the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. I actually can’t believe how closely it resembles the Supergoop version. Also, the fact that it’s for a fraction of the price makes it even more appealing. The only problem I forsee is if your neighborhood Trader Joe’s will actually have them in stock.
